Saturday 20th Oct 2018

5.30am The Lantern Dance – BYO picnic rug or ground sheet (not larger than 1.5m x 1.5m)

This is the official opening of the Gathering and will include some very stirring moments

Now!!! This is where it all begins….you will be picked up from your accommodation by the buses very early. Please be ready as the buses will not be able to wait as we need to have everyone in place at the Standing Stones long before daylight. Dawn waits for no-one! The Lantern Dance takes place at first light.  Our special guest MC Darren Coggan will outline the events of the day. There will be live entertainment including the unforgettable stirring sounds of the Lone Piper in the mist.

You will find out your exact pick up time from your accommodation at check in.

Please note it will be around 4.45am on the Saturday morning.

Once you arrive at the Standing Stone, just like Claire and Frank we will sneak off the buses and walk quietly, whispering as we go over to picnic viewing area.

There will be stewards to guide you all the way. This event is guaranteed to give you goose-bumps!

We welcome the amazing Lantern Dancers from the Aussie Outlander Fan Club who will take us back to 1743. The hairs on the back of your neck will prickle at the sight of something ancient and powerful just like Claire’s did in the series.

With our stunning Standing Stones as the backdrop what more could you ask for to put you in the mood?

If you do not wish to see the Lantern Dance please let the stewards know at check in and we will know not to expect you on the buses that morning.

There is no problem if you are not a morning person. We understand.

Any ticket holder wishing to come to the Gathering later that morning can easily catch the courtesy bus which will leave on the hour from the Visitor Information Centre car park from 8am until the last bus at 12 noon. Simply drive to the Visitors Centre, park your car and then present your Outlandish 2018 pass to the bus driver to ride the Outlandish courtesy bus to the Standing Stones to join the fun.

The courtesy bus will also do runs downtown or back to your accommodation if you require it.

Just wait at the pick-up point near Crofters Cottage to catch the bus downtown. Buses will go on the hour from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Please note that the only access to the site is by the Outlander Fan Gathering bus.

7am to 8.30am Breakfast will be available for purchase from the breakfast food vendor at the Standing Stones (Please have small notes and coins for payment to help reduce delays in service).

Mix and mingle – Time to meet new friends

The breakfast of choice for Highlanders, ‘Porridge’ will be served along with a much needed coffee, tea or juice. We are sure Jamie would approve!

Simply purchase your piping hot porridge and coffee then relax on your picnic rug and take it all in.

After the emotional official opening you will need this time to put your heart back in your chest.

9am Welcome address by Judi Toms – Chairperson of the Standing Stones Management Board plus a presentation about the history of the Australian Standing Stones

Mix and mingle – Outlander Trivia and Bingo – Prizes to be won

The story of our Standing Stones is fascinating and will be told in short by Judi Toms – Chairperson of the Australian Standing Stones Management Board. Judi will give you an incredible insight into the huge undertaking of the construction of the Stones, how they came to be and what they mean to the people of Glen Innes and the surrounding Highlands.

Outlander Trivia and Bingo is great fun and tests your knowledge and memory about the Outlander series.

Trivia and bingo lovers will be able to take part in small groups in a designated area on the day if they wish.

Live entertainment in on stage

10am Morning Tea will be available from the Morning Tea food vendor

Morning Tea will consist of scones, cakes and slices, coffee and tea which you may purchase at your leisure.

During this time why not visit our mini village. There will be only 4 or 5 exclusive merchandise outlets at the Gathering; this is not a festival with hundreds of stalls. Hand chosen vendors for your enjoyment.

There will be a very special guest vendor here from the U.S. with an amazing range of Highland Tea including Sassenach Tea. Bodhran drums will be available for sale, as well as handmade Celtic jewellery
